The Castle pub can be found as you leave the creek and start on the homeward leg towards Faversham. Although it is not named on the route map, it can be found at point 10 on the map - just turn right where the creek meets the road at Oare and a few strides will bring you to its door.
Faversham is steeped in history and was an important port in the Middle Ages. The riverside walk takes you over the marshes and then passes Davington Priory which was built in 1153 and remains an imposing presence.
This is one of a number of excellent walking leaflets created by Kent County Council.
As this route features a choice of pubs, the same route is listed under each pub named below. When adding a review please go to the entry for the pub that you visited and "write a review" there.
The Albion Tavern has a commanding view over Faversham Creek which this circular walk follows much of the way. It features in The Good Pub Guide and in the AA Pub Guide.
WALK 2 This circular route called A Walk on the Wild Side enjoys a varied landscape and features a choice of pubs including The Castle situated at the head of Oare Creek.
