The Wykeham Arms is one of the most popular pubs in Winchester that retains its charm despite being frequently mentioned in the local press with yet another accolade. It has a great atmosphere, is welcoming and has a strong local following so remember to book if you plan to eat there.
There are 2 pubs on this walk so you could start with lunch at the Black Boy and finish with dinner at the Wykeham Arms. There is also a lovely cafe/restaurant at the cathedral refectory for afternoon tea.
As this
route features a choice of pubs, the same route is listed under each
pub named below. When adding a review please go to the entry for the
pub that you visited and "write a review" there.
OS MAPS really enhance enjoyment of pub walks and taking one with you is highly recommended. The 1:25,000 laminated Winchester (OS Explorer Map Active) version is our preferred choice for regular walkers but the standard paper 1:25,000 covering Winchester (Explorer Maps) is also suitable.
