Another good reason to do the walk on a Wednesday is that lunches are only served by The Cross Keys on that day of the week. However, unusually they do allow you to take in your own packed lunch if you just want to enjoy a drink.
A 3 to 4 miles round trip that can be done on foot or by bike: I'd recommend cycling if you want to avoid returning by the same route.
