The Good Pub Guide describes the Charles Bathurst Inn (The CB Inn) as a friendly country inn with bustling atmosphere, good mix of customers, thoughtful wine list, decent real ales, and interesting bar food; comfortable bedrooms, lots of walks. It is also regularly recognised in the national press, such as The Independent's 50 Best Country Pubs which comments that this well-run inn is surrounded by 'some of the best scenery the Yorkshire Dales has to offer - and lovely walks'...

So here is a pub walk to try that takes in some stunning scenery of Arkengarthdale. It is mostly flat, passing along the valley bottom next to a river from Langthwaite to the hamlet of Whaw. There is a moderate climb from Whaw up to Seal Houses and then the path takes you along the road back to Langthwaite via Scar House wood. Some may recall that Langthwaite also featured in the TV series ‘All creatures Great and Small’.

Contributor: This pub walk has been contributed by the Charles Bathurst Inn.
