The First Cambridge Pub Walking Festival !

13 April 2008 - We have come up with another first for Cambridge and those who love to combine their walking with the pleasures of real ale, good food and the convivial atmosphere of a favourite pub.

Cambridge already hosts the UK's second largest beer festival but for the first time this year we will have our own alternative Cambridge Pub Walking Festival, also running from Monday 19th to Saturday 24th May 2008. This aims to raise the profile of some of Cambridgeshire's best pubs for good food, real ale and friendly service whilst celebrating the fantastic pub walks boasted by the area.

This means you can download for free all our Cambridgeshire Pub Walks from now until the Pub Walking Festival ends. What's more, we have timed this to coincide with the Cambridge Beer Festival so for those who love pub walks and real ale there really has never been a better time for a visit to this historic city.

The 35th Cambridge CAMRA Beer Festival is offering a choice of over 170 real ales, 150 ciders and 60 foreign beers.

So what are your next steps?
  • 1 An OS map really is a must. We recommend the 1:50,000 Cambridge and Newmarket, Saffron Walden (Landranger Maps) (Landranger Maps).
  • 2 Take a look at our free pub walks and download as many as you like ready to take with you. Remember we will keep adding more until 24th May so do check us out regularly.
  • 3 Or start to plan your own pub walks using your OS map and perhaps starting with one of the excellent pub books available such as The Good Pub Guide 2008, AA Pub Guide, Good Beer Guide 2008 or perhaps Eating Out in Pubs 2008 (Michelin Guides). Don't forget, share your pub walks with us afterwards and you can share in our website's profits!
